So apparently Nintendo finally got something right about the Wiiware download service. Not that it was bad to begin with, but it really lacked an integrated feeling. Sort of like that lamp in your living room that doesn't really go with anything else. I mean, it's there, it has a purpose, but you rarely use it because it's hella out of the way and you read books in your bed room anyway. I think that's the point I was trying to make.

But it seems like they've got a few demo versions of wiiware games available for download now. This is a brilliant idea (albeit one that many people already had a long time ago. Three years is a bit late, Nintendo). The titles up for grabs are Pokemon Rumble, Bit Trip Beats, Nyx Quest, and FFCC: My Life as a Darklord. I've downloaded and played Pokemon and FFCC (more on that shortly) but the point here isn't really the titles available. It's the very fact that they are there at all. Being able to download and try games before purchasing them, especially with titles that are hard to describe in reviews, is like getting to taste ice cream on those little spoons that they have, only you don't have to leave the house to get to the ice cream parlor. Hell, you don't even have to put on pants. THIS IS THE MOTHERF*#$ING FUTURE, PEOPLE.

That said, Pokemon Rumble is a game I thought Nintendo should have made a long time ago. The pokemon in the game are all clockwork toys, which is essentially a way to justify not having trainers, pokeballs, or all the other junk that usually goes along with the franchise. It's a bit like a dungeon crawler, but each level is fairly short and the game seems to be more about collection than anything else. Which is really okay for me, as the collection isn't tedious and the gameplay is fun. It's also multiplayer without causing you to hate your friends within an hour (a rare thing for Nintendo) with shared, well, everything. Anything you pick up is available for everyone to use at the end of the level. The game has the first 150 pokemon, plus Mewtwo I think. They all use the classic gameboy sounds as well, which makes the experience kind of nostalgic. The character models are all in a chibi-style, kind of like Pokemon Ranch, the effect of which is an instantaneous adorability. (Google is telling me I just made that word up, but it should be real. Are you reading this, Webster's?) Smiling chibi oddish almost killed me ^.^
On the whole the game is one I'd recommend handily. People who spent hours on the original gameboy version will enjoy it very much. The price (1500 Wii points) is a little steep IMHO, but could be worse. Something to consider, anyway.

scribblenauts = awesome!

Just a quick post to say that. Some things I tried:

I made a panda, and rode it around for a while. Then I made a cave for it to live in, but a bear came out and attacked me. So, I used a jet pack to fly on top of the cave, and the made a lumberjack and gave him an axe. He killed the bear, but then attacked my panda. So I gave him ebola and set him on fire with a flamethrower.

And if that is not reason enough to buy a DS and the game then I do not know what is.

Benches and fathering

So it's when i'm waiting outside the lizard show (no strollers allowed) sitting on a park bench that i realise just how much like my father i really am.

The whole town is blacked out... And i'm still doing tech work:-(

PKN has invited you to PKN's Gaming Awesomeness

Event: PKN's Gaming Awesomeness

Where: Raptr

What: The place to connect with your gaming friends and see what the world is playing. We'll track our gaming activity and compare achievements. It's gonna be awesome.

Personal message from PKN:

Hello everyone. I read about this on AP, thought it looked neat. Been looking for something to replace google talk's PC client, as it lacks most of the features the web-based one has. Those of you with XBox live accounts can simply link to this one and chat with people who lack a 360 (like me). Hope you like it!

thought for the day

The world is a much more amusing place if you imagine that everyone looking down at their cell phone is actually masturbating.

Case in point.

This is the cover design I did for my *completely legal backup* of Traitor.

I think it's pretty descriptive.

So I'm like super into computers again. Guess that happens sometimes. I need to go back to school; I don't know enough things.

But I guess that will happen when it happens. No sense rushing things, neh? But what else is new? Between work and Naomi, I don't have a lot of free time. Not that I mind. I like my new job, and Naomi never ceases to make me smile. But it doesn't make for interesting blog material. Not that you read this to be entertained? Or maybe you do...?? I've only got like 7 regular readers (I've seen the statcounter, I know!!) so I guess until you start giving me money you can't complain. Well, I guess you could complain in the comment section, but I'll probably delete it. So there!

...Okay, i confess. I get so few comments that I'll keep it anyway. I have no will power :(

VINTAGE POCKY-- This week in 2007

Finally got a chance to write something!
It's been a very busy couple of weeks for me. Got a new job, built another new comp (because my old one bit it [albeit temporarily]) and my daughter's been growing like crazy.
For now, tho, here are a few pics of Amanda's completed comp.
I'm pretty happy with the Xclio case. Two big 250mm fans, plus a 120mm I added in the back for good measure.
With the Gigabyte board, it runs super cool. Setup was nice and easy. Posted first shot (I'm so happy!) and looks really cool in the dark ^.^

Omg pick your damn movie!!

Just got through ordering the rest of the stuff for Amanda's comp. I'm really excited; this is my first build, and it's gonna kick ass.
Okay, so it's not the newest, but we got good deals on most all of it. And if we get a second video card (prolly a HD 4870 X2) and Crossfire it, this thing will fly.
And not literally, as the case might imply.

Return of the Panda

Okay, so here's the story. At Walmart a few years ago, I found a robot panda on clearance for like $7. It was advertised on the box as having "friendly LED eyes" which were scary as hell, so I bought it. It flails its arms and stares at you with an unending hate when you turn it on, as you can see.
Panda wants your SOUUUUUULYOUR SOOOOOOOUUUUUUULLLL~~Anyway, we started a game with our neighbors (friends of ours) in which we hide the panda somewhere in or around their house and wait for them to find it. My previous post was the second most recent attempt; Amanda just snapped this pic a few minutes ago:

Robo Panda rides your bike.Robo panda rides Trey's bike
So far Panda has shown up on our doorstep twice. I'm hoping for some more creative competition in the future.

This is me blogging this moment before Zack.

scare bears

Bored at work. Yup.
Really need to sketch more. This is pretty much unacceptable.

My town

Stillwater. One of the few places in the world where you can find a BMW and Greek pillars in front of a Chinese fast food restaurant.

oh god my head

Kay so I was super sick this weekend. Felt like I got hit by a frikkin train. No sinus infection-y crap like everyone else has been having, so hurray for that I guess. Amanda was nice enough to take a picture of me while I was passed out and the cat was laying on me all retarded (thanks hon :P ). Really tho, it was wierd.

See fig.2 for just how odd that was. He's a helper I guess??

A few other things--
New job now, no longer at Hellmart Wallfuck Shithole, Inc...
Huh. Can't seem to type it right. Weird.

Have a new haircut (pictured above, sort of). It kinda spikes all weird when I fix it. I call it my eccentric haircut. Works for me, I guess. Need to update my Mii.

Got a new printer! Yay!
Don't have any time to hook it up! Boo!
